Mission Statement

Mission Statement of the Wyoming Prairie Rose Society approved by the membership May 2005

I. To promote rose gardening in Wyoming through research, education and activities.

Much is still unknown about which roses will perform for gardeners in Wyoming.  The WPRS is dedicated to learning which roses are suitable for the area.  Research projects which extend knowledge of rose culture in Wyoming will be undertaken each year. Reports on research will be part of the club meeting activities. A website will be set up and maintained with topics of interest to rose gardeners. It will include a forum feature to allow gardeners to post questions to which members can reply.

II. To collect data on types and varieties of roses which do well in Wyoming.

Lists of roses which do well and landscape sites which are conducive to rose culture are of interest to the WPRS and will be sought from members of the club and the community. The WPRS encourages members to compile information about their rose’s name, type, location in their landscape, problems and share it with other club members.

III. To assemble data into useful formats and make it available to interested gardeners.

When enough data is obtained, a yearbook will be printed and made available to members free of charge. Nonmembers may purchase the yearbook for a nominal charge. The yearbook will be updated when enough new information becomes available to warrant inclusion.

IV. To set up activities which promote the knowledge gained by research.

Club meetings will be publicized and all gardeners are welcome to attend the lectures and workshops. Flyers will be made available at each meeting and a newsletter will be published and sent out to all members. Nonmembers may avail themselves of materials by attending the club meetings.
